GE Vernova’s Digital division, a segment of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), has recently embarked on a multi-year strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) aimed at propelling digital transformation within industrial organizations. The collaboration seeks to leverage cloud-based Proficy software solutions to facilitate this transformation.
GE Vernova comprises the integrated operations of GE Digital, Renewable Energy, and GE Power. Its Digital division specializes in offering software and industrial Internet of Things (IoT) services tailored for industrial enterprises.
One of the key components of this collaboration revolves around Proficy software, a digital catalog designed to identify, evaluate, procure, and deploy other software applications that run on the AWS platform. Under the terms of the agreement, GE and AWS are actively working on a framework to deliver Proficy software solutions through the AWS marketplace. Together, they are concentrating their efforts on developing 10 operational technology software solutions. Notably, these solutions, including Proficy Historian for Cloud, Proficy Smart Factory – Cloud OEE and MES, Proficy Operations Hub, and Proficy Manufacturing Data Cloud, have already been introduced on the AWS platform.
The collaboration is poised to yield several advantages for industrial enterprises and utilities. By streamlining deployment processes, these software solutions have the potential to significantly reduce associated costs. Furthermore, the solutions are expected to optimize efficiency, minimize waste, and enhance production capabilities for manufacturing firms.
General Electric’s strategic approach centers around the establishment of a robust ecosystem to drive digital transformation, penetrate new markets, enhance its product offerings, and gain a competitive edge through strategic partnerships. Collaborations of this nature bolster GE’s standing within the industry and position the company to drive revenue growth.
