Las Vegas-based company Hemp, Inc. (OTCMKTS:$HEMP) revealed today that it has secured above 150 pounds of cannabidiol (CBD)-rich hemp seeds that are to be planted in the next two weeks by its farming associates who are licensed in North Carolina by the NC Industrial Hemp Commission.
CEO Bruce Perlowin detailed the planting, saying that the 150 or more pounds of seeds means that about 550 more acres of cannabis plants will be added to its already-existing 17 acres of high-CBD clones in North Carolina and Colorado. It will be one of, if not the largest, CBD hemp grows in the United States to date.
Things continue to go well with the company, as it is also planning to purchase a second CBD extractor this year. While the company had just announced its purchase of the industrial NuAxon Tech CO2 Supercritical extractor from NuAxon BioScience in its latest press release, Hemp Inc. felt that with the expanding CBD market and increasing sales, a second extractor would be of best interest to its shareholders in order to keep up with the market while in the early growth stage.
The COO of Industrial Hemp Manufacturing, LLC ($IHM) — Hemp, Inc.’s wholly owned subsidiary — David Schmitt ensured shareholders by commenting that for the past two years, the company has been researching CBD extraction methods and manufacturers before finalizing its decision. According to research conducted by Hemp, Inc., the making of an exceptional CBD extractor will have to include extensive testing, strong knowledge of the product, and a continuing process of improvement. A collaborative design engineering team is essential in making sure that the extractor will meet Hemp, Inc’s specifications and high standards while ensuring quality components and customizable approach.
Schmitt is confident that the extractors will improve the efficiency of production, saying, “The CO2 Supercritical Extractor that is currently in-house to be assembled over the next 3 months. Once assembled, we will be ready to process and extract CBD oil.”
Perlowin commented on the rapidly growing CBD market, stating that it is thanks to CBD’s medicinal qualities. In states that have not yet legalized medical marijuana, people are using CBDs from hemp as an alternative to pharmaceutical drugs that are used to treat crippling medical conditions, said Perlowin. Recent studies even show that CBDs are preferred over addictive pharmaceutical drugs.
The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) released a comprehensive study earlier this year looking at cannabis’ health benefits. It confirmed, with substantial evidence, that the plant is useful in treating both common and severe medical conditions such as chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, and chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. Pharmaceutical drugs that are usually used to treat these conditions, such as opioid pain medications, are usually addictive and creates a high risk of fatal overdose in patients.
CBD is a part of the cannabis plant that carries great benefits medically. Because it has no THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it does not make people feel “high”. In fact, it can even counteract the psychoactivity that is caused by the THC. As a result, CBDs are typically more appealing to medical patients who want to relieve conditions such as inflammation, pain, anxiety, psychosis, seizures, and spasms without experiencing disarming feelings of drowsiness.
