The Numbers Are In: Cannabis Takes the Top Three Traded Companies on the TSX for Friday

    It was an active trading day on the TSX today, with a number of stocks changing hands, but no stocks were quite so active as the cannabis stocks. Cannabis affiliated companies took not only the number 1, 2, and 3 spots as the most traded companies for the day, but also spots 4 through 8, far outranking any blockchain companies, which don’t appear until number 9 on the list with Hive Blockchain Technologies Ltd. (TSXV:HIVE) (with 2,297 trades).

    Cronos Group

    Cronos Group Inc. (TSXV:MJN) was the most traded company on the Toronto Stock Exchange today, coming in at 11,391 trades. Overall the company did well, increasing its stock price by 10.43% when it rose by $0.92 to close at $9.74 compared to Thursday’s closing price of $8.82. Cronos Group produces and sells legal marijuana in the Canadian medical market.

    OrganiGram Holdings

    OrganiGram Holdings Inc. (TSXV:OGI) took the number 2 spot on the most traded list for the TSX, trading a total of 7,910 shares for the day. OrganiGram, also involved in the production of medical marijuana in Canada, experienced a smaller stock change than Cronos, but it still managed to increase by 0.74%. The stock rose $0.03 from $4.07 to $4.10 by the end of trading on Friday’s market.

    Cannabis Wheaton Income Corp.

    Cannabis Wheaton (TSXV:CBW) came in as the third most traded company on the TSX, trading a total of 6,070 shares for the day. Of the three, it was the only company to experience a decline for the day, losing 1.72% of its stock price. The stock dropped by $0.03, closing the day at $1.71 compared to Thursday’s closing price of $1.74. At its lowest for the day, Cannabis Wheaton was trading at $1.56, and it traded at its highest for $1.85. Unlike the other two companies, Cannabis Wheaton is an investment company that works in the Canadian cannabis industry.

    The Supreme Cannabis Company (TSXV:FIRE): 4th biggest trader, trading 5,998 shares; up 12.81%; currently trading at $2.29.

    Emerald Health Therapeutics (TSXV:EMH): 5th biggest trader, trading 4,823 shares; up 3.17%; currently trading at $5.21.

    The Hydropothecary Corp. (TSXV:THCX): 6th biggest trader, trading 4,211 shares; down 0.49%; currently trading at $4.09.

    Emblem Corp. (TSXV:EMC): 7th biggest trader, trading 2,875 shares; up 1.33%; currently trading at $2.28.

    Kalytera Therapeutics (TSXV:KALY): 8th biggest trader, trading 2,403 shares; down 2.22%; currently trading at $0.44.
