GPU giant NVIDIA recently surpassed a $3 trillion market cap—a testament to the surging value of AI technologies.

ChatGPT creator OpenAI is valued at over $80 billion, nearly tripling in less than 10 months.3

But it’s not just chatbots and chipmakers gaining a stake in the growing AI industry.

AI-powered robots are also taking the world by storm.

Big Tech is Investing Billions into AI-Powered Robots

Autonomous robots are no longer reserved for futuristic films.

Billions of dollars are being spent to develop new groundbreaking robots across limitless industries ranging from healthcare to IT.

Robot startup Figure AI, which is valued at $2.6 billion, has raised $675 million from investors like Jeff Bezos, Microsoft and NVIDIA.4

Tesla’s humanoid robot Optimus is still in the lab, but might be ready to sell as soon as the end of next year according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk.5

Humanoid robots have also been in development for several years by Japan’s Honda and Hyundai Motor’s Boston Dynamics.

Robots are also proving to be indispensable as public servants.

Security robots utilize artificial intelligence (AI), streaming video, and other connected technologies to perform security tasks traditionally handled by humans. Key applications of these robots include surveillance, explosive detection, dynamic mission planning, firefighting, de-mining, rescue operations, transportation, and patrolling.

Industry experts predict that security robots will remain a crucial component of the security sector throughout this decade.

It’s no surprise that the global security robots market is projected to grow at a remarkable compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.65% to reach nearly $120 billion by 2030.6

Enhancing Public Safety with Cutting-Edge Solutions

Right now, there are over 331 million Americans but only 660,288 full-time law enforcement officers7 and just over a million security guards8—roughly one protector for every 200 people.

In 2022, there were over a million violent crimes reported across the US.9

But since only about 41.5% of violent crimes are reported, that number is likely much higher than FBI stats show.10

In an increasingly complex world, the demand for advanced security solutions has never been higher.

Some of the current products and services available to help combat crime in the US and beyond include:

  • Axon Enterprise
    • Axon equips law enforcement with Tasers, body cameras, and VR training systems, enhancing the tools officers use daily. Their products focus on improving officer safety and effectiveness, providing reactive measures to real-time situations.
  • Wrap Technologies
    • Wrap Technologies provides non-lethal restraint devices like the BolaWrap, designed for specific suspect restraint scenarios. Their innovative tools help law enforcement manage situations without resorting to lethal force.
  • OSI Systems
    • OSI Systems specializes in large-scale security screening for infrastructure protection, focusing on stationary solutions for areas like airports and government buildings. Their advanced screening technology helps detect threats before they can cause harm.
  • SoundThinking (formerly ShotSpotter)
    • SoundThinking is known for its gunshot detection systems, high-tech security cameras, and data analysis tools, which help law enforcement respond quickly to gunfire incidents. Their technology is crucial in urban areas for identifying and locating gunshots.
  • Knightscope, Inc.
    • Knightscope is revolutionizing public safety with its Autonomous Security Robots (ASRs), designed for continuous, proactive surveillance and real-time incident response. These robots are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including HD 360-degree recording, thermal cameras, and public address speakers.

Knightscope, Inc.’s (NASDAQ:KSCP) innovative Automated Gunshot Detection (AGD) system can identify and report gunshots within two seconds, significantly improving response times. By offering a mobile and adaptable security solution, Knightscope stands out in the security technology industry, providing comprehensive coverage and enhancing safety across various environments.
